Butuan City- In order to sustain reduced malnutrition prevalence, the Municipality of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte promised that nutrition activities will be refurbished so that nutrition awards will be once again be reclaimed, said by Sangguniang Bayan Ronilyn S. Borja during her closing message in Celebration of Nutrition Month on 20 July 2022 in this town.

Mayor Joselito T. Roble was ably represented by Mr. Andrew Roble, the Municipal Administrator, extended support to the celebration of Nutrition Month. The good Administrator, announced that an increase of honorarium will be provided to barangay nutrition scholars, the inclusion of nutrition programs, projects and activities in the plan and will work for the nutrition office with manpower.

Dr. Ramises L. Casals shared that health is wealth and that investing in good nutrition is important.

Meanwhile, National Nutrition Council Caraga, Dr. Nino Archie Labordo talked about nutrition and resiliency. He emphasized the nutrition month theme, “New normal na nutrisyon sama-samang gawan ng solusyon”.

In his message, Dr. Labordo shared the importance of the first 1,000 days program as an investment. He likewise challenges the SB members to look into policy that will help implement nutrition programs, projects and activities in the municipality down to barangays.

The first-class municipality has below the World Health Organization (WHO) cut off for stunting where the municipality posted a prevalence of 8.4 in 2021.
