Butuan City- Around 30 nutrition implementers completed the three-day training seminar on the First 1,000 days: Idol ko si Nanay Training module conducted on 19-22 July 2022 at Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City.

The training on the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in the First 1,000 days: Idol ko si Nanay Module is intended for service providers who will implement key interventions on health, nutrition, social and early learning services to achieve the maximum development of the child's life.

In particular, the training provided input on the overall context of the ECCD F1K program, demonstrated facilitation skills in conducting nutrition education classes using the Idol Ko Si Nanay Facilitator’s Guide; demonstrated skills on counseling and giving support to mothers along infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, and plan the conduct of roll out of trainings at the local government units.

Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Kareen Ugay of Bacuag, Surigao del Norte shared that the training is relevant for the barangay nutrition scholar’s nutrition advocacy and counselling.

On the other hand, Dr. Mark Ephraim A. Columba, MNAO designate of Claver, Surigao del Norte appreciated the training. He assured that a roll out will be scheduled for the rural health staff, barangay nutrition scholars and barangay health workers to gain knowledge and skills on the overall package of the first 1,000 days.

Topics on child’s protection and child’s rights were added to appreciate better the rearing and caring responsibility of parents, guardians or caregivers.

The first batch of training was well attended by the following LGUs: Tubod, Claver, Sison, San Francisco, Tagana-an, Placer, Mainit, Gigaquit, Bacuag, Surigao City and the Provincial Health Office of Surigao del Norte. #NASLabordo
