Surigao City- On 28 July 2022, officials of the Municipality of Malimono, Surigao del Norte shared tips and stories to audience particularly the mothers during the Culmination of the Nutrition Month Celebration.

Vice Mayor Arnel Amalia, gave message on behalf of Mayor Wallace Sinaca. He informed the audience on the legal mandate why nutrition is celebrated in July.

The good Vice Mayor, also shared the status of the Philippines in terms of the stunting prevalence. It is alarming but we can contribute to prevent increase of malnutrition, VM Amalia added.

Dr.Nìño Archie Labordo on the other hand, emphasized the link between resilience and nutrition. He provided strategies on how to become resilient especially that Malimono is a coastal municipality.

Meanwhile, Dr. Leonard Abraham, the Municipal Health Officer, put meaning on the importance of support provided by the Municipal Nutrition Committee. Dr. Abraham pointed out the available nutrition services and the counterpart each one can help to improve nutrition situation of the municipality.

Further, in his closing message, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Robert Sinaca, shared of the backyard gardening, available local root crops and other food security interventions.

Organized by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, the activity, highlighted the awarding ceremonies of the different contests for children, mothers and the barangay nutrition scholars.

The one-day activity showcased talents on singing and dancing, poster making, cooking and the display of food products.

Present during the activity are the 14 barangays of Malimono and the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee.#NASLabordo
