Butuan City- Eleven (11) pregnant mothers in the Municipality of San Francisco or in Anao-aon ramped up and showcased wit and intelligence during the Search for Healthy Preggy on 29 July 2022 at the Municipal Plaza, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.

The showcase of beauty and wit is aligned with the Nutrition Month Celebration, where the focus of the advocacy is on the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child.

Dr. Kithleen Rhea Grace D. Ramos, the Municipal Health Officer, expressed that the search is aimed at advocating the important health measures a mother should be doing during her pregnancy.

The first 1,000 days or recognized as the golden period of opportunity, shared by Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo, during his inspirational message.

Dr. Labordo emphasized that each individual in the household and community has a role to contribute in the pregnancy of the mother.

He then encouraged all mothers and soon to be mothers to maximize the health services that the rural health unit is providing, including the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding.

During the question and answer portion, the judges asked questions on the importance of prenatal, breastfeeding, healthy pregnancy and care for the child.

Contender mother from Barangay Poblacion was crowned Healthy Preggy San Francisco with her comprehensive answer on the importance of prenatal citing the experience she got during her prenatal visits.

Other declared winners are: Healthy Preggy Tourism from Barangay Oslao, Healthy Preggy Environment from Barangay Linongganan, while Barangay Diaz and Barangay Honrado were adjudged 1st runners up and second runners up respectively.

Present during the event is Mayor Val P. Pinat with his lovely wife, Vice Mayor Malou Pinat, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Annaliza M. Baldecir, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, Ms. Jen Centino, all Barangay Captains and members of the Local Nutrition Committee.#NASLabordo
