Prosperidad, ADS – Around five hundred (500) Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) from the different Local Government Units (LGUs) of the Province of Agusan del Sur (ADS) convened at Big Times Resort, Lianga, Surigao del Sur for the Provincial Barangay Nutrition Scholars’ Summit on 22 July 2022.

After two years of face-to-face restrictions, the Provincial BNS Federation and Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Province decided to hold a convention to reignite  companionship among nutrition workers in the new normal setting.

Moreover, the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO), Ms. Laniebelle Angchangco said that being the frontliners for nutrition at the local level, BNSs well deserved this summit to unwind and be energized.

One of the anticipated parts of this event is the Tiktok Challenge and Zumba Competition that showcased the talents and teamwork of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the 13 municipalities and 1 city.

The winner of tiktok challenge is the City of Bayugan headed by City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO) Ana Jane Garcia, followed by the Municipality of Trento led by Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Elmelou Ampolitod, then the Municipality of Sibagat supervised by MNAO Rovelyn Montino.

On the other hand, the winner of Zumba competition is the Municipality of Rosario headed by MNAO Fe V. Sulfelix, followed by the Municipality of Sibagat led by MNAO Rovelyn Montino, then the Municipality of Trento supervised by MNAO Elmelou Ampolitod.

The BNS Summit was organized by the Provincial Government Agusan del Sur (PGAS) through the Provincial Nutrition Committee chaired by Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. and with assistance from the Nutrition Action Officers’ Provincial Association and Provincial BNS Federation.

With this summit, the Provincial Nutrition Committee members hope for a more empowered and enthusiastic BNSs in performing their roles and responsibilities in their respective barangays.#DMOMPRayco
