Butuan City – In celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month, the Local Government Unit of Sibagat held the Municipality’s 3rd Nutrition Congress and Nutrition Month Celebration on 29 July 2022 at Brgy. Poblacion Covered Court, Sibagat and participated by the different Barangay captains, Kagawad on Health, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).

First District Congressman Alfelito Bascug, Vice Mayor Maria Liza Evangelista, SB Jovan Duarte, SB Gines Coranes, two principals from two Elementary Schools of the Municipality of Sibagat and Development Management Officer II Mariella P. Rayco from National Nutrition Council Carag graced the Culmination of the Nutrition Month.

The morning event highlighted the plans of the local government officials towards a more improved nutrition situation of the Municipality, while the afternoon event showcased the talents of the elementary students of Sibagat.

Vice Mayor Evangelista, in her message, said that the involvement of each parent, local government officials and everyone is vital for the improvement of health and nutrition of the municipality. Hence, she recognizes the collaborative effort of all nutrition movers in the decline of malnutrition prevalence of Sibagat. She also added that, “We are looking forward to zero malnutrition. I’m looking forward to a healthier Sibagat.”

In addition, Congressman Alfelito Bascug reiterated the message of Vice Mayor saying that each individual should work together for the betterment of the community, district, province and ultimately, for our nation. Furthermore, he expressed his interest together with Vice Mayor Evangelista in giving nutribuns to the children and asked about the adoption of DOST-FNRI technology on nutribun but using their own organic produce.

Meanwhile, elementary pupils in Sibagat District participated in two nutrition month contests conducted by the Nutrition Office, the nutri-jingle and poster making contest.#MPRayco
