Student intern MCU Aug2022Butuan City- National Nutrition Council Caraga warmly welcomed seven interns for the Community Nutrition Practicum from the Central Mindano University (CMU) in Maramag, Bukidnon on 22 August 2022 at the NNC Office, Butuan City.

Joining the about 38 days of practicum are Lynn Lorellie Opaon, Julycah Eballe, Hanah Jane Salada, Rea Bacalso, Rein Roland Gabaisen, Athena Khorraine Albastro, Luth Christian Abian. All on their fourth-year level of the Nutrition and Dietitics course.

Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo, Officer-in-Charge-Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, conducted an orientation on the NNC’s mandates, programs, projects, activities, and duties of the National Nutrition Council in public health. Dr. Labordo encouraged the student interns to maximize learning and practice the values of NNC.

This was followed by the orientation from the Development Management Officers assigned to different programs and provinces, namely: Mr. Raphael P. Ochavo, Ms. Julianne Janine V. Carrillo, Ms. Jann Abigail Portillas and Marie Angelie Fernandez who discussed and shared the structure of the organization, programs and the responsibilities of every officer.



Student interns are expected to complete 300 hours (8 hours/day) from August 22, 2022, to October 12, 2022, for the practicum to achieve necessary requirements agreed upon by the school and the office.

At the end of the practicum, the seven interns are expected to determine the nature and magnitude of malnutrition in Caraga region, explain the causes and possible consequences of malnutrition, assist in actual planning, organize and mobilize the community to participate actively in efforts for nutrition improvement, and generate material and financial resources from government and non-government organizations for selected food and nutrition programs, projects and activities.
