Butuan City- 28-years old Barangay Nutrition Scholar, Robelyn C. Galela is one of the contenders on this year’s Search for the Regional Outstanding BNS in Caraga region.

The Tandag City outstanding BNS was visited by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) on 25 August 2022 at Barangay Maticdum for the desk review and validation of documents.

Appointed in 2019, BNS Galela has already received various awards from the local government unit of Tandag and has been awarded a finalist during the 2021 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony.

BNS Galela is dedicated and hard working. In her day to day service, she prioritized mothers, households, and young children because she knows that if she educates and encourages people in her barangay, they will have a better and healthier life.

Helping the community with the help of the Barangay Captain, stakeholders, and Barangay Nutrition Committee is her strength of doing the best for her barangay.

BNS Galela monitors and conducts house-to-house visits to monitor the status of their children and provide appropriate health and nutrition education.

BNS Galela is trained in Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (PIMAM); Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning; Advocacy such as Polio and Japanese Encephalitis, and other topics on maternal nutrition and infant young child feeding practices.

In her interview, BNS Galela remarked that the major role as a BNS is the acceptance of failures and making changes that will make you a better version of yourself and to share your experiences to make yourself an inspiration to others, she added. #Hanah Jane Salada and NASLabordo
