Butuan City – Part of the project, the Nutrition Shepherding Team visited the Municipality of Placer, Surigao del Norte on 27 September 2022 to provide orientation on the nutrition program management particularly the local legislators and policy makers of this town.

Development Management Officer II Raphael P. Ochavo discussed the importance of nutrition and the need for LGUs to keep investing in it. The council received a hard copy of The Compendium of Action for Nutrition, a facilitation tool to support multi-sectoral action at the national level, especially with regard to nutrition policy.

Likewise, he shared how LGUs may invest in nutrition with focus on the first 1,000 days. On the same day RA 11148 flyers showing how to prevent stunting were distributed.

Further, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO), Ruth E. Rivera shared the nutrition situation of the locality and presented the lined-up plans and actions to combat malnutrition.

The team was warmly welcomed by the members of the Legislative headed by Vice Mayor Hon. Ryan Fel B. Napuli.

The visit received positive feedback from the local legislators with commitment to support nutrition program implementation. #GASaromines
