San Jose, PDI- Headed by the Provincial Nutrition Office in collaboration with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Caraga, a 3-day training on Early Child Care Development: Idol Ko Si Nanay Training Module was conducted on October 11-13, 2022 at San Jose Pension House, Dinagat Islands.
A total of 24 health and nutrition implementers of Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI), composed of Municipal Health Officer (MHO), Municipal Nutrition Action Workers (MNAO), Public Health Nurses (PHN), Nutritionist-Dietitians, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Federated presidents were capacitated and now roll-out training ready on their respective municipalities and institutions.
PDI Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr, welcomed the participants which he expressed his gratitude to the health workers on their continued hard work in eradicating malnutrition in the province specially the children, pregnant and lactating mothers. Gov. Demerey also acknowledged the presence of NNC Caraga OIC, Dr. Nino Archie Labordo and the whole NNC team. He thanked the NNC for the continued assistance and guidance to the PLGU.
The training module provided learning sessions with information on good maternal nutrition from pre-pregnancy to postpartum and sessions on proper newborn, infant and young child feeding practices. Also included in the sessions are the continuum of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services, such as early child learning and child’s protection and rights.
Mayor Yngwie Hero B. Ecleo of San Jose, Mayor Marc Adelson D. Longos of Cagdianao, Mayor Melody Llamera-Compasivo of Libjo and Mayor Simplicia P. Pedrablanca of Tubajon were present during the opening of the training. The present local chief executives showed to Tutok Kainan-Dietary Supplementary Program by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) Ms. Joanna Jessica P. Yasay conveyed her appreciation for the successful conduct of the training and encouraged the participants to impart the learnings to the mothers and caregivers of their respective municipalities. #APajulas
