Butuan City – The Municipality of La Paz conducted its three-day training on Maternal, Infant and Young Children Nutrition to organize Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) support groups on November 15-17, 2022 at Farmer’s Training Center, Demofarm, La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

The training was conducted to equip various volunteers, especially those who have constant contact with pregnant women and lactating mothers, on the recommended maternal nutrition, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding practices for children.

It also aims to support mothers, fathers and other caregivers to optimally feed infants and young children.

Moreover, a return demonstration on IYCF counseling was conducted at the end of the training to complement the theories and concepts discussed in the duration of the training.

Present in the training are the Barangay Captains, barangay councilors, rural health midwifes, lactating mothers, pregnant women, and representatives from Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), religious sectors and senior citizens of Barangay Langasian and Barangay Villapaz of the Municipality of La Paz.

Facilitators and speakers of the training were DMOII Mariella P. Rayco from the National Nutrition Council Caraga, PNAO Laniebelle T. Angchangco from Provincial Nutrition Office, NDDP Trisha Estal from Provincial DOH Office, MNAO Lilian O. Pino from the Municipal Nutrition Office of Esperanza and MNAO Lina Jean Guiang-Precioso from the Municipal Nutrition Office of La Paz. #MPRayco
