As the late well-known philanthropist and business leader, Bill Gates, once said that “As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.” The same thought and mindset of our focused leader even at a young age. Join us as we swiftly magnify into the journey of Dr. Nino Archie Labordo.
With his genealogy emanating from Region VIII, Dr. Labordo was born in the humble abode of Mr. and Mrs. Tiburcio D. Labordo, Jr. Brought up in a far-flung farming barangay from a simple and big family, at a young age Dr. Labordo was already exercising authority as he leads and provides guidance to his siblings, as he was the second from among his siblings. Both his elementary and high school education prepared and nurtured him to be a proactive, energetic, diligent, keen, and ever hopeful young leader. He was destined to work abroad after college, but faith led him to his passion and patriotism, his care and community service always prompt him to live where his heart is. He was likewise awarded Best in Clinical Award and Leadership Award from a prestigious college in Region VIII, where his leadership skills were fostered and reared further.
At work his colleagues would describe him as super keen to details, strict, and “by the book.” He is well organized and ensures to it that everything is being executed as planned and intended, nothing should be missed out. His clinical students would agree and would have similar feedback. But all of them were thankful and honored of having the experience of the mentorship of Dr. Labordo.
A leap forward to 2012, Dr. Labordo commenced his assumption in his public service journey with NEDA, working as secretary to the Regional Director of said agency. Five years thereafter, he moved to National Nutrition Council in furtherance of his passion for care of children, saving and building their future. With his good track record and potential for carrying bigger roles, Dr. Labordo heed the call last November of 2021, to take the responsibilities of an Officer-In-Charge Nutrition Program Coordinator of the Caraga Region, Region XIII. Learning a lot from one of the leaders that he looked up to – Regional Director Bonifacio Uy, he then applied what he has learned in terms of technical, discipline, and good values. Primarily, when stepped from the peaceful land of Caraga, he was looking to unleash the potentials and bringing up the best capabilities of Caraga’s constituents.
While in service her received notable awards which includes national and regional recognitions. He was one of the 2020 and 2021 National Awardee and Regional Awardee as Most Outstanding Covid-19 Volunteer - awarded thru the efforts of Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) and Regional Development Council Eastern Visayas.
While started as a stranger in the Caraga Region, Dr. Labordo gingerly immersed himself and utilized the erudition he got from his former boss, Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. in terms of interpersonal skills and assertiveness, as expected from a public servant. As time goes by, Dr. Labordo captured the heart of the people of Caraga.
But his journey has just began, he pushed for continued excellence in terms of program execution of the agency and all other tied up to his role. This good mindset he was able to grasp from one of his mentors – Dean Socorro Gasco, his former Dean and colleague from the College of Nursing in RTRMF, Tacloban City.
With such characters of excellence, hard work, dedication, passion, professionalism, and good governance, this month a momentous event transpired. Dr. Niño Archie S. Labordo has received a confirmation from the NNC Executive Director and Assistant Secretary Azucena M. Dayanghirang appointing him as the first and official Nutrition Program Coordinator of the whole region of Caraga. With this highly coveted position comes an expectation of well execution and command from strong leadership and the whole community is well assured that Dr. Dr. Niño Archie S. Labordo will undoubtedly be able to deliver. We wish you all the best in these new heights! Congratulations!# AASLabordo
