AHON 13 JAN 2023BUTUAN CITY- In a pre-workshop meeting conducted on 13 January 2022, via Zoom, five (5) municipalities in Siargao Island will be enrolled in Health and Nutrition Governance and Programming which will be facilitated by the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and the National Nutrition Council Caraga starting February of 2023.

The five municipalities classified as fifth to sixth economic classes are Burgos, San Benito, Sta. Monica, San Isidro and Pilar, Province of Surigao del Norte. 

Anchored on a Theory of Change Framework and dubbed as Purok Malusog, the program aims to (1) improve the governance of nutrition system; (2) integrate and ensure inclusivity of service delivery for nutrition; and (3) facilitate adoption of positive behaviors of the constituents on food health and nutrition.

AHON-SIARGAO: Capacity Enhancement (CAPE) Project of LGUs on Health and Nutrition Governance and Programming will be the banner project in the implementation of the course.

On the other hand, the Purok Malusog course is ZFF’s main program offered to local chief executives, managers, frontline workers and community leaders who want to enhance their technical and leadership competencies in order for the community to live in a healthy and productive life.

During the pre-workshop meeting, the first 1,000 days nutrition scorecard was presented, which is focused on reducing stunting and wasting.

Major components to be monitored are on: leadership and governance; financing; human resource; access to commodities; information systems; service delivery and social determinants.

To better scale up the indicators, facilitators will utilize strategies such as apply and practice, learn from others and train and learn which shall be incorporated into every module.

The first meet up via face-to-face with the participants in five municipalities is scheduled first week of February 2023 in Siargao Island. #NASLabordo
