BUTUAN CITY- The City Government of Tandag, Surigao del Sur held a ribbon cutting and blessing of a two-story building on 26 January 2023, celebrating the official opening of the City Nutrition Office of Tandag City.

The two-story City Nutrition Building is located at the City Hall Compound, Barangay Awasian in Tandag City is divided into different sections to include: technical, administrative, breastfeeding and counselling, storage, food processing and conference room.

Mayor Roxanne Pimentel led the ceremony together with guest from NNC-Caraga the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Nino Archie Labordo, SP Member Kharin Cammayo Momo, SP Member Cesar Bat-ao, DILG CLGOO Ms. Ging Plaza Bagasbas, Provincial Nutrition staff, and Department and Division Heads of several agencies of the City Government of Tandag.

Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo, shared that the opening of the City Nutrition Office marked the open partnership of Tandag City as Learning Hub for Enhanced and Revitalized Nutrition (LHEARN) Project, for other local government units to benchmark.

The City of Tandag was identified as LHEARN Project area, the first in Caraga region that will showcase best practices on nutrition program management and implementation.

Mayor Roxanne Pimentel assured that continued support to nutrition programs, projects and activities will be provided to elevate the status of nutrition in the city particularly for the mothers and children.

The realization of the City Nutrition Office was through the nutrition structure advocacy of City Nutrition Action Officer Reyveen John Geli and the support of the City Nutrition Committee led by Mayor Roxanne Pimentel. #NASLabordo
