Prosperidad, ADS – The Municipality of San Luis, in coordination with Agusan del Sur Provincial Nutrition Office and National Nutrition Council Caraga conducted the Tutok Kainan – Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP) Phase 3, launched on 13 February 2023 at Doña Flavia, San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

The activity was attended by PNAO Laniebelle Angchangco, Municipal Administrator Jean B. Bascon, Barangay Chairperson Marjorie Bacquial, NOII/ MNAO Ruth Boiser, NDII Jerome Cadeliña togther with the National Nutrition Council, DMO II Mariella P. Rayco.

Sixty (60) beneficiaries received the commodity with the presence of the Barangay Councilors, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Rural Health Unit (RHU) staff, and guardians.

The program, Tutok Kainan, seeks to contribute to the prevention of stunting by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes and utilization of Early Childhood Care and Development – First 1000 days Program (ECCD-F1KD) services among nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children aged 6-23 months old.

Based on the 2022 Operation Timbang Plus results, the municipality ranked third in the Province of Agusan del Sur with the highest prevalence of stunting among children below five years old, affecting 327 children in 2022.

Municipal Administrator Jean B. Bascon was grateful for including the municipality as one of the target areas of the program. She mentioned that having this program {TK-DSP}, the nutritional status of children would definitely improve.

Likewise, the Barangay Chairperson of Barangay Doña Flavia, Hon. Marjorie Bacquial expressed her commitment to supporting the implementation of TK-DSP. She acknowledged the guardians of beneficiaries for their complete attendance during the launching and encouraged them to continue participation throughout the program.

The main highlight of the launching was the distribution of commodities led by DMOII Rayco, PNAO Angchangco, Admin Bascon, AA Dumanon, and Chairperson Bacquial, while the ceremonial feeding to selected beneficiaries was led by Admin Bascon and Chairperson Bacquial.

To assure cleanliness and sanitation, the municipal LGU also distributed hygiene kits to each beneficiary that includes toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, facemasks, and rubbing alcohol.#MPRayco
