Butuan City – The National Nutrition Council Caraga with the leadership of OIC-Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) Dr. Niṅo Archie S. Labordo facilitated the conduct of Nutrition Integration in the 2023 Annual Investment Program (AIP) and Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) updating of LGU Claver last July 6-8, 2022 at G-Anns Dinner, Claver, Surigao Del Norte.
The 3-day planning workshop with the aim of integrating nutrition program, projects, and activities in the municipality and barangay level.
The workshop was attended by the Municipal Nutrition Committee headed by their chairperson, Mayor Georgia Gokiangkee.
Mayor Gokiangkee together with their MNC members will strengthen their nutrition and food security and related programs to ensure the health and nutrition of Clavernon specially of their children.

Butuan City- Life-saving interventions, particularly for children, was the main discussion during the Healthy Forum in the New Normal, a Webinar spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council Caraga on 18 July 2022 via Zoom Conferencing in celebration of the Nutrition Month (NM).
Nutritionist Dietitian, Ms. Shorea Lyn Awa of the Provincial DOH of Agusan del Norte talked about the importance of breastfeeding and COVID 19.
Ms. Awa emphasized that the best food with a full package of nutrients is found in the mother’s breast.
Breastmilk is always clean, covers all the baby’s needs for the first 6 months and promotes adequate growth and development, Ms. Awa added.

Butuan City- simple, concise and relevant tips captured the local community during the DRRM Information Caravan and Static Display of Rescue of Equipment held on 15 July 2022 at Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City
Aimed to promote positive nutrition practices, Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo of the National Nutrition Council shared the 10 Kumainments to encourage everyone that to be resilient one should adopt to sustainable healthy living.
The 10 Kumainments, one of the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos, contains important messages for all age groups, including the exclusive breastfeeding practices for infants.
Breastfeeding is the best food and the only available food during disasters, Dr. Labordo added.
The 10 Kumainments include 1: Kumain ng iba’t ibang pagkain; 2: Sa unang anim na buwan ni baby, breastfeeding lamang at mula six months, bigyan din siya ng ibang angkop na pagkain; 3: Kumain ng gulay at prutas araw-araw; 4: Kumain ng isda karne, at iba pang pagkaing may protina; and 5: Uminom ng gatas at kumain ng pagkaing mayaman sa calcium; 6: Tiyaking malinis at ligtas ang ating pagkain at tubig; 7: Gumamit ng iodized 8: Hinay-hinay sa maaalat, mamantika, at matatamis; 9: Panatilihin ang tamang timbang; and 10: Maging aktibo. Iwasan ang alak at huwag manigarilyo.

Butuan City –The Caraga Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars convened its Assembly and agreed for membership due increase on 14 July 2022 at Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.
The hot issue came after the financial status was revealed and the activities of the Federation cannot be sustained, said Federation President Mary B. Lomoljo.
At the moment, the Federation treasurer reported less than sixty thousand money on hand and a minimal contribution is being received.
From current five pesos per month, the BNS will remit ten pesos a month or 120 pesos a year.
The amount collected will be used for the operationalization of the Federation, including the proposed welfare benefits which will be put into resolution later.

Butuan City – Stakeholders and partners involved in the Information Caravan and Static Display of Rescue Equipment received a plaque of appreciation on 15 July 2022 at the Multipurpose Hall, Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City.
Aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of disaster resilience among communities, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management (RDRRM) through the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga gathered various implementers to display rescue equipment and provide relevant information to mitigate impending event.
Among the active partners who supported the activity and received plaques of appreciation are from the Department of Health Center for Health Development DOH-CHD) Caraga, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Butuan City DRRM, Philippine Coast Guard- Coast Guard District North Eastern Mindanao, 15th Regional Community Defense Group, National Nutrition Council Caraga and the barangay local government unit of Bonbon, Butuan City.

Butuan City- After two years of being on mobility restrictions, barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) across Caraga region convened for its Regional Conference on 14 July at Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.
“Nakaka-refresh, nakakabuhay sa aming mga BNSs”, the conference is refreshing and uplifting to us BNSs, said BNS Arcelie Lamay of Surigao City.
The one-day Conference provided technical inputs on the Nutrition Month theme, “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon”.
Nutrition Officer II Leah Vina Vargas shared the topic on Good nutrition sa New Normal na Sitwasyon. She explained that pandemic has made a huge impact to nutrition and that we need to adopt to strategies on how to become healthy and well-nourished.
