BNS Claver 2021Butuan City- fifteen (15) barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) in the Municipality of Claver refreshed on the training for the barangay nutrition scholars on 21-23 December 2021 at the Rural Health Unit Building Conference, Claver, Surigao del Norte.

The said training is aimed to re-orient the BNSs of the roles and functions in the management of nutrition program at the barangay level.

Included topics in the training are the concept of the BNS Program, Food and Nutrition, Nutrition Program Management and the Different Skills of the BNS.

OIC-NPC Nino Archie S. Labordo discussed the topic on Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition and the Role of the BNS as an additional training topic.

On the other hand, Nutrition Officer Raphael P. Ochavo shared the MELLPI Pro for the BNS and the National Nutrition Council incentives and benefits.

RNAC 2021 CNAO GeliButuan City- City Nutrition Action Officer Mr. Reyveen John B. Geli received the Nutrition Service Award for his exemplary performance in the management and implementation of nutrition program in the City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held on 20 December at LJ Mega Convention Hall, Butuan City.

Prior to his post as CNAO, Mr. Geli served as the City Nutrition Program Coordinator where his expertise on coordination and management on nutrition programs was galvanized.

In 2017, Mr. Geli started to lead the nutrition program implementation of the City through its different innovations and strategies employed to reduce the different forms of Malnutrition.

He believes that the foundation of good nutrition implementation will start at the barangay level of which he ensured that all the 21 barangays are reactivated with a functional Barangay Nutrition Committee. Likewise, inclusion of the First 1,000 days program in the Local Nutrition Action Plans and the Annual Investment Programs are secured.

RNAC 2021 TyphoonButuan City- In a recently concluded Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC), local government units (LGUs) in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands are this year recipient of the nutrition awards organized by the National Nutrition Council Caraga on 20 December 2021 at LJ Mega Convention Hall, Butuan City.

Included is the list under the LGUs with above 80% Coverage of the 2021 Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+) are the municipalities of Burgos, Claver, Dapa, del Carmen, General Luna, Mainit, Malimono, Pilar, San Isidro, and Sison all in the Province of Surigao del Norte. On the other hand, the municipalities of Cagdianao and Libjao in the Province of Dinagat Islands also recorded a high OPT+ coverage this year.

Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus is the annual weighing and height measurement conducted during the first quarter of the year conducted to all preschoolers 0-59 months old or below five years old in a community to identify and locate the malnourished children. A coverage of more than 80% of the 0-59 months children’s population will give a better scope to the nutritional status of children.

RNAC Media2021Butuan City- Media arm of the National Nutrition Council Caraga, the members of Caraga Movers lauded for their sustained partnership and dissemination of correct and right information on good nutrition during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on 20 December 2021 at 2021 at LJ Mega Convention Hall, Butuan City.

Recognized during the awarding ceremony is DXMK Magik 97.5 FM who gave an untiring support to the nutrition campaign and advocacy of the National Nutrition Council Caraga. Likeise, few other media partners from different municipalities were acknowledged for their support on the nutrition programs of National Nutrition Council Caraga.

Given recognition are Nutriskwela community radio stations to include Radyo Kaagapay DXCN 107.3 FM a radio in the Municipality of Sibagat Agusan del Sur, Radyo Kinaiyahan DXNX 97.7 FM in Municipality of Malimono, Surigao del Norte and Radyo Kabakhawan DXNG 97.7 FM in Municipality of Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte were recognized for their sustainability of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Program of the National Nutrition

PIR Mayor AsisBayugan City- “We should consider the whole community not only children but also the elderly, nutrition is for all”, Mayor Kirk A. Asis of Bayugan City expressed during the program implementation review conducted on 14 December 2021 at the new Agriculture Office in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

The good mayor who is also the Chairperson of the Regional Development Council- Social Development Committee (RDC-SDC) shared his vision of a healthy and well nourished Agusanon.

Mayor Kirk acknowledged how supportive and eager are the Provincial Governor, Gov. Santiago Cane, Jr. and Congressman, Cong. Eddie “Bong” Plaza in ending the malnutrition problem in the province. They are always there to guide every local government units, they envisioned too to have zero case of malnourished children in Agusan del Sur, he added.

RNAC RetireesButuan City -In the Caraga Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony on 20 December 2021 held at LJ Mega Convention Hall, Butuan City, two hardworking personalities were recognized and honored for their commendable services in delivering nutrition programs in the region. 

Ms. Nenita C. Rafanan served the City of Butuan for 33 years with 26 experience as City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) prior to her post as City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO). 

On the other hand, Ms. Eden A. Amper, the retired District Nutrition Program Coordinator (DNPC) of Agusan del Norte, served the Province for 25 years from 1995 to 2020.

NNC Caraga appreciated the attendance of the former nutrition movers. Despite being retired from the service, they accepted the invitation without second thoughts and attended the 2021 Caraga Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony with elegance and vigor. They truly embody the words of Assistant Secretary and Executive Director of National Nutrition Council, Azucena M. Dayanghirang, “retired but definitely not tired.”#MPRayco
