Opinion from Barangay Calades Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay is one of the contenders for the search of National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (NOBNS) 2013. This year is the 3rd time that Zamboanga peninsula was included in the search for NOBNS from which the region won the title in the last two consecutive years.

The National Nutrition Evaluation Team (NNET) Headed by Assistant Secretary of health Maria-Bernardita T. Flores with her team Miss. Ellen Ruth F. Abella from the NNC-Central Office, Mr. Froilan Flores of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and Mr. Joy Hermogenes from NNC-Central Office visited the Municipality of Alicia last 1-3 September 2014 to assess and evaluate the performance of BNS Myrna M. Opinion of Barangay Calades.

During the team’s courtesy call to Mayor Yashier S. Musa, AlHaj the latter expressed deep appreciation of the visit of a National Level figure, which accordingly was a first for his municipality. The Team was welcomed at the barangay with a short program prepared by the barangay council and teacher and students of the Elementary School.

BNS Myrna M. Opinion was adjudged as Regional Outstanding BNS and was qualified to represent the region in the National search for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. BNS Opinion has been serving in Barangay Calades for over five years and has been assisting many families with nutrition related interventions particularly maintaining home food production that has ensured steady food supply for the families and prevent the deterioration of Nutritional Status of the Children.
