IX SUFIATo give utmost recognition to the mothers who outshine in taking care of themselves during pregnancy and  nurture their children from delivery until they reach two years of age, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aurora successfully conducted the ceremonial launching of the Search for Ulirang F1K na Ina ng Aurora (SUFIA) last February 3, 2020 during the LGU’s Flag Raising Ceremony. The event was headed by the LGU’s Local Chief Executive Hon. Mayor Attorney Boen Dorotheo R. Cabahug and witnessed by the employees together with the national agencies.  SUFIA aims to promote the optimum care given to the First 1000 Days of Life of the Child towards strengthening the foundation of the so-called “Golden Window of Opportunity”.

This is a special event of the ECCD F1K program of the Municipality of Aurora to give award to mothers who are ECCD F1K beneficiaries and who have been following the call for early prenatal check-up, exclusive breastfeeding, timely immunization, age-appropriate complementary feeding and other health and nutrition related activities. The search started with the submission of entries last January 2020 by the Midwives and Human Resources for Health (HRH) together with the Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Health Workers at the barangay level and they will choose one representative for their respective Barangay Health Station. There were 11 mothers who qualified to the Municipal Level based on the compulsory qualifications prepared by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Lewelyn Jean R. Adolfo with the assistance of the ECCD F1K Provincial Nutrition Coordinator Mr. Elton N. Pelegrino. Actual visit and personal interview to the qualifiers will be done in the upcoming days to select the top five finalists. Declaration and awarding of winners will be on the 17th of February 2020.

The aforementioned event was also aired live via Radyo Kaugmaran to inform the general public on the intention of the competition and to inspire mothers within and outside the municipality of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur. (ECCD-F1K PNC Elton N. Pelegrino)
