With the recent organizational developments of the National Nutrition Council Regional Office IX, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Nimfa D. Ekong conducted a special staff meeting dedicated for the orientation of the newly-hired employees last March 3, 2021. To be always true and dedicated to continuously serve the public and be competent and committed public servants, the said orientation was intended to provide information to the new employees and to refresh the employees on the overall background of the agency, its national and regional organizational structures, job descriptions of each staff among others. During the months of December 2020 and January 2021, NNC 9 posted on its Facebook page job vacancy notices for the positions of Provincial Nutrition Coordinator for Zamboanga del Sur, Provincial Nutrition Coordinator for Zamboanga del Norte, Nutrition Officer II and Nutrition Officer I. The posts generated expressions of intent from 8 interested applicants for the positions of Provincial Nutrition Coordinators (PNCs), more than 20 applicants for the position of Nutrition Officer II (NO II) and no-less than 45 participants for the position of Nutrition Officer I (NO I).
After the hiring process facilitated by NNC 9 and with the signing of their respective contracts by the Executive Director Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, NNC 9 now has newly hired staff in the persons of Ms. Marie-Claire A. Gaas as PNC- Zamboanga del Sur, Ms. Rowence F. Zorilla as PNC- Zamboanga del Norte, Ms. Joanna Marie E. Baltazar as NO II and Ms. Cielo Katrina M. Mabalot was promoted as NO I.
During NNC 9’s staff meeting on March 1 led by Nutrition Program Coordinator Nimfa D. Ekong, the following agenda were discussed: a) NNC vision and mission, core functions, and core values; b) NNC 9’s Organizational Chart; c) Job description and tasking of NO III, PNC, NO II, NO I, AA VI & AA III; d) Orientation of programs; and e) Other matters- office rules and advisories.
During the orientation, RNPC Ekong emphasized NNC’s vision and mission, core functions, and especially the core values- Integrity, Zeal, Excellence, Sensitivity, and Transparency. NPC Ekong reminded the staff that NNC employees should have these 5 values. She also discussed the NNC 9’s Organizational Chart, job descriptions, duties and responsibilities of each position such as those of the NO III, PNC, NO II, NO I, AA VI & AA III. She also enumerated the different regional committees that NNC-IX is a member of and its corresponding position to the said committees. House rules and regulations were also discussed to maintain order in the office. To know more about the programs of NNC, NPC Ekong also gave the newly hired staff initial information on the programs and scheduled a more in-depth orientation on these programs and activities.
Office Order No. 1 series 2021 was also issued by NPC Ekong to designate staff as person responsible on the different tasks, programs and activities of the regional office and reiterate the deadlines of submission of documentation reports, minutes of the meeting, summary of evaluation and other post-activity documents of the activities to be conducted for the year 2021.
With the addition of three new members to the NNC 9 family coupled with the promotion of one member, NNC 9 is more confident to perform its duties and functions, for tasks to be accomplished on time, and to more efficiently and effectively serve the public. NPC Ekong concluded the meeting with a quote from Helen Keller “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much” Teamwork is necessary to gain the goal of SUCCESS! NNC 9, Go, Go, Go!
