Womens MonthThe 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) endeavors to highlight the gains achieved for women and girls, assess actions towards gender equality and look forward to steps that must be undertaken to ensure progress in empowering women. With the country still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, studies and data show that the health crisis stalled movements towards gender equality, worsening inequalities, further exposing gender gaps, and exacerbating vulnerabilities in social and political, and economic aspects.

In support, the National Nutrition Council Region IX joins in celebrating National Women’s Month with the theme “We Make Change Work for Women”, which shall be used from 2017-to 2022. It highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development. This pursuit of development is also anchored on the commitments of “Malasakit at Pagbabago” or True Compassion and Real Change.

This year culminates the 6-year theme “WE Make CHANGE Work for Women”. This, in general objective, is to inform and engage women as pioneers and beneficiaries of government programs and services – to promote citizen-centric governance and make “change” a conscious effort to know, understand, and provide what ALL citizens need to create and facilitate platforms to discuss good practices, gaps, challenges, and commitments in pursuing gender and development (GAD) – to strengthen implementation of the Magna Carta of Women. Likewise, this is to inspire and empower women and girls to be agents of change – to contribute to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of all women.

The following are the recommended activities or list of events for the National Women’s Month Celebration:

  • Hanging of tarpaulin to inform the general public towards gender equality and empowerment among girls and women from March 1 -6, 2022
  • Poster and Slogan Making Contest on March 4, 2022
  • Photo feature of School activities from March 5 to April 4, 20222
  • Gender Concepts and Gender Sensitivity Webinar - This activity is intended for the students, faculty, and staff of Southern Christian College to intensify gender sensitivity awareness among employees, students, and other stakeholders to mitigate prevalent gender issues and concerns. This will be conducted through Zoom and Livestream via FB Live.
  • 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration – an Opening Program and Kick-off of Our Serbisyo Para Kay Juana Y2. This is a fund-raising campaign thru a virtual marathon for the benefit of women employees in DepEd Dapitan with chronic illness.

With this, everyone is encouraged to wear any purple shirt/dress every Tuesday for the entire month of March of this year to signify support for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
