When it comes to having kids, the age of the parent is a personal choice. Having children in earlier age is a finest option, not only for the reason that a woman will be in her fertility years but for the parents to have enough strength to manage their growing children. Study revealed that children who were born from older parents behaved well. According to Healthline, researchers reported that older parents experienced less persisting behavioral difficulties among their children. There are also disadvantages of being an old parent which include fatigue, generational gaps, and other health problems.
However, the children of older parents had fewer behavioral problems such as aggression and rule breaking than the children of younger parents. Parental age was not related to children’s emotional problems such as anxiety and depressed mood. Older parents tend to be more highly educated, have higher income and consequently live in better neighborhood. The effect of parental age on behavioral problems were smaller than the socioeconomic differences between younger and older parents. It has been known that older parents may have better parenting skills due to their life experience that can also affect the behavior of their children.
Researchers revealed the positive effects if either the mother or the father was older. They did not look at combined effects if both parents were older. Study found the positive effect were slightly evident in the behavior and attitude of the children if the mother was older.
Parents must always remember not just their age but their responsibilities to raise their children in proper way with good manners, proper conduct and physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy.
