Isabela CityIn celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month Campaign, the City Government of Isabela, through their City Population Office/City Nutrition Affairs Office, launched a Dietary Supplementation Program last July 11, 2022 in pursuant to Republic Act 11148 or known as “Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act," a complementary early childhood care and development services in the first 1000 days.

This is to scale up the national and local health and nutrition programs through strengthening integrated strategy for maternal, neonatal, child health and nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life. The said program covers forty-five (45) nutritionally-at-risk Pregnant Women who were identified as immediate beneficiaries. The activity is intended for the selected recipients of Barangay Carbon, Diki and Sta. Barbara in Malamawi Island respectively which will last for 90 days until November 11, 2022.

The City Population Officer and concurrent City Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Jesielyn Puno together with her Nutritionist-Dietitian I Ms. Nujaima Sahi Abdurahman led the activity with the presence of barangay chairpersons; Mr. Bino Danial, Ms. Sitti Khadija Amil and Mr. Jim Fernandez. On the other hand, Isabela City Mayor, Honorable Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, gave a message of support reiterating the importance of maternal and infant health as part of inclusive and sustainable development.

Activities like this should be given emphasis in ensuring children’s full potential by taking care of pregnant women as it is the initial phase in the first 1000 days of life.
