MELLPI in ZamboangaThe National Nutrition Council, as the highest policy-making and coordinating body for nutrition monitors and appraises the progress of the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) at various levels. This is done using various monitoring activities such as mid-term assessment at the national level, annual program implementation review, and Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) at regional and LGU levels.

The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro is designed to monitor and evaluate the performance of local government units (LGUs) and Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) in promoting nutrition security visà-vis nutrition outcomes. Results of the MELLPI Pro aim to guide policy and decision makers to enhance nutrition products, services, and delivery systems towards improved effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.

The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) of Zamboanga Peninsula spearheaded by the NNC9 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Nimfa D. Ekong and Chaired by DSWD9 Nutritionist-Dietitian III Ms. Greta F. Martinez conducts the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) Validation Visit to the City Government of Zamboanga and to their Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Ms. Jessica G. Pradel of Barangay Ayala last September 1-2, 2022. The monitoring and evaluation activity for LGU-Zamboanga City was led by RNET Chair Ms. Martinez together with DOST9 SRS II Ms. Sonora Buñag, ZCMC Chief Dietitian Ms. Ma. Dolores M. Paredes, POPCOM9 AO I Ms. Heidi M. Berdin, DILG9 LGOO IV Ms. Lizette Regine R. Boltiador of DILG and was assisted by NO III Mr. Elton Pelegrino and DMO II Ms. Karla P. Calapardo of NNC R9. Meanwhile, the evaluators for Ayala BNS Ms. Pradel were led by NNC9 RNPC Ms. Ekong together with BFAR9 FRO Ms. Rowena Jainul-Abbilani, ZAMSO Iodization Center Head Ms. Lourdes C. Mangaoang, and assisted by NNC9 PDO I Ms. Kimberly M. Tanador. The said activity was to audit the extent of performance in the implementation, management, and delivery of services of the Nutrition Program for the year 2021, and to mentor and provide technical assistance to the concerned evaluates.
