You may have seen instructions mingling online for homemade baby formula. Don't try them! Using milk formula is risky and much more if you will be creating your own baby formula. We’re not going to get into the breast milk vs. formula debate, as moms, doing what we consider greatest for our family. In fact, there isn’t a mom who didn’t want the best for her child. Can we make a homemade formula that provides nutrition? No! To do so, you would have to be a nutrition scientist with an expensive lab in order to make something safe and healthy.
Baby formula is a developing product that meets the FDA standards for nutrition and welfare as set by the Infant Formula Act, which was advanced to safety measure the nutritional health of all infants. The existence of the Infant Formula Act tells us there was a need for one. Establishments must follow nutritional standards and precise safety to keep our most vulnerable population safe. There is no nutritional investigation for these homemade formulas, and overwhelming improper amounts of nutrients can cause poor growth, and toxicity. Not only is there a dangerous risk of indecorous nutrition, there is also the chance for contamination with germs and bacteria.
An infant immune system is not yet fully developed, so possible for then to be very sick very quickly. Breast milk is the sole source of nutrition for this vulnerable age group, so don’t take any risks. Breast milk is best for baby’s and now we’ve come full circle.
