Many nations throughout the world commemorate World Environmental Health Day on September 26 each year. By the IFEH Council, World Environmental Health Day was established (International Federation of Environmental Health). This group encourages international cooperation and educates the public about environmental health in an effort to improve the planet's environmental conditions.
In line with this, on October 1, 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte issued Proclamation No. 595, designating the day as "World Environmental Health Day" in the Philippines. In addition to promoting activities and programs that assure accountability for the integrity of health and the environment, this is done to increase public understanding of the connection between health and the environment.
The theme for this year is “Strengthening Environmental Health Systems for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”
The goal of World Environmental Health Day is to increase public awareness of the vital work carried out by environmental health professionals around the world. The theme for World Health Day in 2022 is "Strengthening Environmental Health Systems for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals."
The COVID-19 epidemic has brought attention to the crucial function played by the environmental health workforce in these trying circumstances. The pandemic has also brought attention to how closely related the economy, environment, and health care are. In its WHO Manifesto for a Health Recovery from COVID-19: Prescriptions and Actionable for a Healthy and Green Recovery, the World Health Organization (WHO) promotes a healthy and green recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the help of the environmental health profession, IFEH hopes to emphasize the significance of funding a healthy and environmentally friendly recovery through this year's World Environmental Health Day topic.
