5-7 October 2022--The Local Government Unit of Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur successfully conducted a 3-day Training on Basic Course for BNS held at the ABC Hall. The activity was made possible through their Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) headed by the Chairman Mayor Avelino J. Yrauda.  MNAO Ms. Celerina R. Bital facilitated and led the activity thus made the event possible and a success. Resource persons were MNAO Bital, Ms. Julie Mae P. Villahermosa and Ms. Floricel N. Denopol, RND – AA 1 NNC IX.

Day I. Topics discussed and taken up during the first day of the training were Modules I to 3.  Resource Persons on the first day were NDDP Ms. Julie Mae P. Villahermosa, RND and MNAO Celerina R. Bital. Module (1) The Barangay Nutrition Scholar Program; Module (2) Basic Concepts of Food and Nutrition; and Module (3) Developing Skills of the BNS

Day II. Modules (4) Situating the Barangay Nutrition Program in the Local Development System; and Module (5) The BNS in Action discussed were discussed by NNCs AA I Floricel N. Denopol, RND.

An activity was done on the evening of the second day. Oath taking ceremony of all Barangay Nutrition Scholars and BNS Officers with Municipal Mayor/ Municipal Nutrition Council Chairman Hon. Avelino J. Yrauda conducting. The event was held at Fishport Area, Brgy. Sumpot, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur. Also present during the ceremony were Punong Barangay Melchor Yursua of barangay Sumpot; Punong Barangay Natividad Quirante of barangay Buburay; and Punong Barangay Alex Bagundol of barangay Josefina, all from LGU of Dimataling.

Day III. MNAO Celerina R. Bital, facilitated and lead all the participants (BNSs) for an actual Barangay Nutrition Scholar Office Visit and actual weighing, height measurement, and taking of MUAC to identified preschoolers at barangay Balanagan, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur with the support of the Punong barangay of Balanagan Honorable Cesar J. Betet.

Closing Ceremony was done, with Municipal Mayor/MNC Chair Hon. Avelino J. Yrauda’s presence and support. The 22 Barangay Nutrition Scholars received their respective certificates of completion for the three-day Training on Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS). The training ended with MNAO Celerina R. Bital’s leadership making the activity a success, with the assistance from her MNPC Fredesuenda P. Alivar, and her nutrition staff.
