Reg Fed MtgThe National Nutrition Council 9 provides assistance to the local nutrition programs. One of which is its technical assistance to the various federations of the local nutrition workers. As such, the NNC R9 headed by RNPC Nimfa D. Ekong initiates the conduct of the 2nd Semester Joint Meeting of the Regional Federations (Nutrition Action Officers, Local Nutrition Program Coordinators, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars) last 17 November 2022 at Residencia Suites Hotel, Zamboanga City and via Google meet. The activity is participated by no less than fifteen (15) participants composed of Nutrition Action Officers, Local Nutrition Program Coordinators, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and NNC9 staff.

Part of our commitment to strengthen the Regional Federations of Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators (DCMNPCs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) is the support on the conduct of their regular meetings where the respective federations can discuss various concerns that affect their functions in providing nutrition services in their respective locality. These regular meetings will keep the federations active and functional for their respective members.

The activity highlights the discussion of the 2022 Regional Nutrition Situation discussed by DMO II Karla P. Calapardo, the MELLPI Pro Validation Visit Results by NO III Mr. Elton N. Pelegrino, and the discussion of the Federations concerns will be simultaneously done at the same venue with a breakout session to maximize the NNC’s coordination and facilitation efforts. The purpose of the meeting is to provide updates on the Nutrition Program developments and to plan out activities of the respective federation for the rest of the year and also serve as a forum for nutrition policies and other program updates.

RNPC Nimfa D. Ekong thanked everyone for actively supporting the nutrition programs of the National Nutrition Council and assures everyone that the NNC IX will continue to provide technical support to the LGUs as we have one goal and that is to improve nutrition wellbeing of every Filipino being the most important resource in the country.
