The National Nutrition Council founded the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station in collaboration with a Local Government Unit or a State University or College with the intention of empowering the community through radio to disseminate accurate, current, and relevant information about nutrition and health, as well as educational and developmental information from all concerned sectors of the community, government age.
The National Nutrition Council IX (NNC9) headed by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Nimfa D. Ekong successfully conducts the 3-day Region-led Training on the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program at Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City last November 23-25, 2022. The workshop aims to conduct training for the new management personnel of the selected radio stations in the region.
The workshop was attended by not less than twenty-seven (27) participants composed of Station Managers, Program Managers, Radio Technician, IT staff, Reporters from the Radio Station of Radyo Komunidad of Isabela City, Radyo Kasuhnan from the municipality of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, Radyo Kaugmaran from the municipality of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, and Radyo Kahupayan from the municipality of Saiyan, Zamboanga del Norte.
The objective of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Program is to promote nutrition and community development programming wherein, 60% of airtime is devoted to nutrition and development programs and the rest is music with NO advertisements. This is to contribute to nutrition improvement by broadcasting nutrition and community development programs.
During the activity, RNPC Nimfa Ekong presented the Profile of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program followed by the Community Radio history, objectives, and strategies which were presented by DMO II Marie-Claire Gaas.
PDO I Kimberly Tanador presented and discussed Promoting Nutrition through the Nutriskwela Community Radio.
The activity was also joined by a resource speaker from the Philippine Information Agency Region IX Assistant Regional Director Mr. Rene V. Carbayas. He was able to present and discussed the Radio Broadcast Voice and Effective Anchoring and Interviewing Techniques and Writing for Radio and Field Reporting wherein, there was a Role Playing and workshop that was conducted for the participants.
Another resource speaker from the National Telecommunications Commission Region IX Engr. Manuel G. Nacua Jr. was able to present the Rules and Regulations on Radio Broadcast.
Meanwhile, the Social Marketing and Communications Trainer and Professional Life Coach Ms. Mackay Quadra presented the topic of Operating the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station and Digital Media and Social Networking.
The activity was also joined by the seasoned Broadcasters of Isabela City Radyo Komunidad Station Manager Mr. Richard Falcatan, and Program Manager Mr. Jayson Arcan who presented the Nutriskwela Radio Station Personnel and Nutriskwela Community Radio Council, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Community Radio, and Developing a Program Design for the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station. They also shared their experiences in Nutriskwela Community Radio Program.
