TK prep in TungawanOn February 16 & 17, NNC9 Zamboanga Sibugay DMO II Ms. Karla Calapardo together Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Marelene C. Garcia conduct an Orientation on Tutok Kainan:DSP and made a courtesy visit to the Municipal Mayor of Tungawan Hon. Carlnan C. Climaco and Municipal Mayor of R.T. Lim Hon. Danilo J. Piodena to discuss its plans and a suggested date for the launching in the municipality. The aforementioned activity was also attended by DNPCs Ms. Analiza B. Balugtod & Ms. Marcy Evans, MNAO Ms. Maribel G. Tingson, TK Focal Person Ms. Violeta C. Eguia, Barangay Kagawad and Health/Nutrition Workers, Staff, and assigned BNSs for Tutok Kainan: DSP of the Municipality of Tungawan and R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The National Nutrition Council initiated the Tutok Kainan (TK), a dietary supplementation program (DSP), to help alleviate and improve the nutritional status of our future generation. This is also in response to COVID-19 pandemic and the increased of the vulnerability of the undernourished children. Likewise, this will also help eradicate the ever-pressing concern of malnutrition among Filipinos. In preparation for the implementation of the Tutok Kainan: Dietary Supplementation Program Phase 4 in Zamboanga Sibugay for 6-23 months old children who are specifically targeted to prevent child stunting in the first two years of life or the period referred to as the First 1000 Days being the golden window of opportunity, a social preparation was conducted through reinforcement session about the program.

During the event, NNC9 ZS DMO II Calapardo discussed the overview of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program that includes Updated Masterlist of Beneficiaries, Feeding scheme, Roles and Responsibilities of the Local Nutrition Program Implementers of TK:DSP Letter of consent or waiver of Parents/ Guardian of beneficiaries. PNAO Garcia also gave her inspirational message that emphasizes on fighting malnutrition in the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay and that the nutrition implementers will be ensured that they are well acquainted with how Tutok Kainan: DSP will be implemented to meet the objectives of the program. Likewise, the local nutrition program implementers commit that they will do their part to meet the expectation of LGU and NNC in participating to this feeding program to our LGUs and beneficiaries in which if the dietary supplementation will be a success they will carry on the said feeding program. The two municipalities are grateful to be part of the TK DSP and they desire that through this program, the expected outcomes of improving the nutritional status of the children in their locality will be achieved.
