Valencia City (Bukidnon) is a step closer to the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award given to Local Government Units with outstanding performance on nutrition, after maintaining its Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) award for two consecutive years.
The inter-agency National Evaluation Team (NET) headed by Assistant Secretary of Health Maria- Bernardita T. Flores, CESO II and Executive Director IV of NNC, visited Valencia City on June 7-11, 2016 to validate the City’s 2015 nutrition program performance.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Maramag, Bukidnon was also visited by another NET headed by Ms. Hygeia Ceres Catalina B. Gawe, Chief of Nutrition Surveillance Division of NNC on June 6-10, 2016. Maramag is the lone contender to the Second Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award.
Both Valencia City and Maramag were validated based on nutrition program efficiency and effectiveness particularly on the changes on nutritional status of children, desk review of Nutrition Action Plans and validation weighing of sampled barangays as well as interviews with the members of the Local Nutrition Committees.
Should Valencia City pass the evaluation criteria and garner a score of 98% and above, it will be NorMin’s 8th LGU to receive the NHA. Region X ranks second to Region II with the most number of NHA awardees. kjco
