NorMin’s inter-agency Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) endorsed Gingoog City as Region X’s contender to the prestigious CROWN award conferred by the National Nutrition Council as a three time Regional City Green Banner Award based on the results of the 2013-2015 MELLPI.

With CROWN as a national award, Gingoog City still has to undergo final validation and deliberation done at the NNC Central Office level based on documents submitted by NNC X before being named a national CROWN Awardee.

The RNET led by its Chairperson Eva T. Pacturan of the Department of Agriculture X evaluated Gingoog City’s 2015 nutrition performance last May 17-20. Gingoog City’s was lauded for its sustained efforts in decreasing underweight prevalence from 12.08% in 2008 to 4.1% in 2015 and for its collaborative effort in curbing malnutrition.

“Our aim really is zero malnutrition. We will work hand in hand in mapping out malnourished children so we can provide needed interventions” says Mayor Marie Gingona who chairs the City Nutrition Committee. pcgd
