DILG and DepEd IssuanceMore participants are expected to submit entries for the 2017 Nutrition Month Theme Writing and Logo Design Contest as local government units and schools including the higher education institutions forged commitment to disseminate information about the competition.

With the collaboration of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG X), Department of Education (DepEd X) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) X, the National Nutrition Council is expecting for the entries the 2017 Nutrition Month Theme Writing and Logo Design Contest to swell.

On October 5, 2016, DILG Regional Director (RD) Arnel M. Agabe issued a directive to Provincial and City directors to disseminate the contest mechanics to all local government units in Region X.

 

Likewise, DepEd RD Allan G. Farnazo released a Regional Advisory dated October 11, 2016 to all schools division superintendents to direct the heads of public and private elementary and secondary schools to join the said contest.

CHED is yet to issue a similar issuance to all higher education institutions in the region.

Focusing on “Healthy Diet”, the 43rd Nutrition Month theme aims to promote the consumption of healthier foods and discourage unhealthy diets for the reduction of overweight, obesity and non-communicable diseases.

The contest runs from October 1 to November 15, 2016 and is open to individual Filipino citizens aged 15 years old and above. The winners for each contest will receive a cash prize of P10,000.00 and will be acknowledged in the NNC website, social media, Nutrition Month Talking Points and flyer. PD 491 or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines mandates the annual celebration of Nutrition Month every July to create greater awareness on nutrition among Filipinos and designates NNC to coordinate the nationwide campaign. smgt/lgn/nge
