Adjudged as outstanding nutrition program implementer or a Green Banner Awardee in the region for three (3) consecutive years, Gingoog City is now hammering out efforts to sustain gains in nutrition. The National Evaluation Team (NET) led by Ms. Alona E. Teo, Nutrition Officer II of Nutrition Surveillance Division - National Nutrition Council conducts validation visits to Gingoog City and its barangays with Mr. Reginaldo Guillen, Nutrition Officer IV of Nutrition Policy and Planning Division - National Nutrition Council to assess the City’s 2016 nutrition program performance on 11- 15 September 2017.

Gingoog City is one of the 11 local government units nationwide vying for the 1^st year CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) maintenance.

City Councilor and Committee on Health Chair, Winfred Militante led in welcoming the NET during the opening program and presentation of nutrition program accomplishments together with the City Nutrition Committee members, Health and Nutrition Office staff of the city and barangay nutrition scholars. During the 4-day visit, NET conducted desk review of accomplishment reports vis-à-vis Nutrition Action Plans and other pertinent documents (City and Barangay level), interview the members of C/BNC, validation visit to 5 sample barangays namely Minsapinit, Mimbuntong, Barangay 7, Barangay 12 and Anakan including the validation weighing of sample preschool children and site visit.

During the exit conference on the last day, the NET presented their initial findings and recommendations. The NET commended the full support of the nutrition committee members chaired by Mayor Marie L. Guingona for their active involvement and notable nutrition program implementation.

Should Gingoog City conquest challenges and maintain an outstanding performance in nutrition for three (3) consecutive years being a CROWN awardee, Gingoog City’s road to Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award given to Local Government Units with remarkable performance in nutrition, will be achieved.
