The Regional Nutrition Committee X officially announced Misamis Occidental, Cagayan de Oro City and Manolo Fortich as NorMin's outstanding Nutrition Implementer during its meeting held last October 13, 2017. RNC X issued RNC X Resolution No. 1 series of 2017 "Confirming the Results and Ranking of the 2016 MELLPI and Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS)" as endorsed by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET).
Guinsiliban, Camiguin; Tudela, Misamis Occidental; Languindingan, Misamis Oriental and Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon were also affirmed as Outstanding Municipalities in their respective provinces. On the other hand, 43 barangays were also declared as Regional Green Banner Barangays for this year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Alberto O. Jacosalem of Barangay Bagontaas, Valencia City is also pronounced as the 2016 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) bested over 9 ROBNS contenders in Region X. Mr. Jacosalem was able to maintain and sustain efficient and effective nutrition program implementation that resulted to downward trend in the prevalence of underweight and severely underweight from 1.10% in 2014 to 0.59% in 2016.
Efforts of the local government units in nutrition program implementation, all awardees, will be recognized as MELLPI and ROBNS culminates through the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony scheduled on November 24, 2017 at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
Furthermore, Regional Award of Merit will also be conferred to Northern Mindanao's Nutrition Honor Awardees (NHA) for having sustained the effective and efficient nutrition program management. These are Malaybalay City, Ozamiz City, Valencia City, Kadingilan and Quezon, Bukidnon.
This year's conduct of MELLPI and Search for ROBNS, RNET X visited a total of three (3) provinces, seven (7) cities, sixteen (16) municipalities and eighty-seven (87) barangays and evaluated ten (10) Provincial/City BNS contenders for the ROBNS- which marked increasing percentage of the total number of participating LGUs since 2014.
Gingoog City and Maramag, Bukidnon will likewise receive a Special Citation being the 2016 1st year CROWN maintenance and Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) contenders, respectively.
