Being humble, passionate, and dedicated to his work as Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Bagontaas, Valencia City, Alberto O. Jacosalem made him the 2017 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS). He believed that time has perfectly come for him to own the title besting other 9 contenders from 4 provinces and 5 cities of Northern Mindanao.  He was also declared as the City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar for two consecutive years since 2015 to 2016.

Walking the talk as Barangay Nutrition Scholar since 2011, here are the quality nutrition services that contributed to the improvement of the nutritional status in his barangay:

• Initiated income generating activities such as e-loading business and chicken raising livelihood project for the feeding program of underweight preschool children. Also started raising Muscovy duck and goat to generate additional funds for the said program.
• Assisted in the distribution of native chickens, food packs, multivitamins, seeds and Oriental Herbal Nutrient (OHN) and Indigenous Micro Nutrient (IMO) to families of underweight preschool children.
• Establishment of home/urban backyard gardening with technical assistance from an agriculturist. The yields of the fruit trees and vegetables are used to sustain the feeding program.
• Involvement to the organic farming such as production of Oriental Herbal Nutrient (OHN) and Indigenous Micro Nutrient (IMO) benefited the people in the barangay. OHN is an organic insecticide and/or fungicide composed of locally available and cheap ingredients. IMO is an organic fertilizer which sustains healthy growth of vegetables and fruit trees.
• Active advocate of exclusive breastfeeding to his target groups in the barangay and one of the resource persons in the Family Development Sessions of 4Ps beneficiaries.
• Meticulous in keeping his records neat and orderly, as well as documenting the nutrition programs implemented in Barangay Bagontaas. This helped barangay officials and Barangay Nutrition Committee to easily identify to target recipients for nutrition related programs in the barangay and to keep track of the support generated from socio-civic and others non-government partners.

The initiatives and innovations for income generating projects and active participation and coordination in the development of his barangay topped his accomplishments. The dedication of quality nutrition services of BNS Alberto aspires co-volunteer works both in Health and Nutrition. He is also the current Public Information Officer of BNS Federation Valencia City, an Adventist Youth Leader SDA Bagontaas also First Kagawad Purok 9 Bagontaas, an Auditor Malingon Water System and SK Facilitator in the Purok. He makes the whole City of Golden Harvest proud of his real service for nutrition that resulted in the decreasing trend of both undernutrition and overnutrition in his Barangay.
