6 June 2019, Cagayan de Oro City – The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) has finally identified after the deliberation meeting the top 3 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (ROBNS) in the region.
The annual search for outstanding BNS is conducted to assess the performance of BNS in terms of their contributions to the nutrition program implementation in the barangays, and to commend and recognize the BNS for their relentless effort in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition.
The ten (10) contenders from Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, El Salvador City, Gingoog City, Malaybalay City, Tangub City and Valencia City are vying for the 2018 ROBNS. Different sets of RNET members visited the 10 contenders to evaluate their performance using the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro Form for BNS Monitoring.
RNET members headed by Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez of CHED X reviewed and assessed the performance of each contender through MELLPI Pro form, written exam and interview. After the thorough discussion on the initial rating score and good practices of each contender, the RNET identifies top 3 contenders to be endorsed by the Regional Nutrition Committee and will be forwarded to National Nutrition Council-Central Office for validation. NNC through the Nutrition Surveillance Division will determine who will be qualified as the regional contender to the 2018 Search of National Outstanding BNS.
