30 July 2019, Cagayan de Oro City -- National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X spearheaded the 2019 Nutrition Month Culminating Activity held 30 July at Brgy. Nazareth Gymnasium, Cagayan de Oro City. "Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo... push natin 'to!" is this year's theme for the 2019 NM Campaign. Approximately 100 Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X member agencies, Nutritionist-Dietitians of DOH, Nutrition Action Officers, City Nutrition Program Coordinators, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, media partners, contest judges and nutrition stakeholders.

Punong Barangay Maximo T. Rodriguez, III welcomed the participants in his message, giving emphasis on moving forward with progress. Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez of NNC X shared the key messages of this year's campaign.

As highlight of the activity, a BNS Zumba Dance Contest was held. Five (5) LGUs joined the BNS Zumba Dance Contest to compete for the grand prize: Cagayan de Oro City, El Salvador City, Ozamiz City, Valencia City and Misamis Oriental Province represented by BNSs of LGU Tagoloan.

Judging the contest were licensed Zumba instructors and dancers Jhong Luna and Terence Lagua together with renowned choreographer and festival dancer Arianne Dumangcas. BNSs were judged based on choreography, mastery and execution, costume and choice of music and audience impact.

To involve the audience, an elimination-type Nutri-Quiz with a Twist was done where 30 participants composed of RNC X representatives and BNSs joined and were made to answer multiple choice questions. The winner, BNS Jenny Arcabal of Valencia City was awarded with gift certificate worth ₱1,500.00.

Prior to the announcement of winners, a mass Zumba was led where all attendees of the event participated.

As results of the activity's highlight, El Salvador City BNSs finished first place while Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City BNSs were second and third placers, respectively. Cash prizes and certificates were given. (NO II Sheena Marie G. Talle)
