2019 NPM Training14 August 2019, Cagayan de Oro City – National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X capacitated nutrition workers through conduct of the 2019 Training on Nutrition Program Management (NPM) held at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental last 5-9 August 2019. The 5-day training was attended by 30 newly hired/designated Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators and Nutritionist-Dietitians (ND) II of the ND Deployment Project of Department of Health’s Human Resource for Health (HRH) Program.

Opening Program was held on the first day where NPC Gladys Mae S. Fernandez welcomed the participants and explained the rationale and expected outputs of the training. Highlights of the program includes levelling of expectations for the training, trainers and their co-participants to start off the same ground for the training. Participants took the pre-test and NO II Sheena Marie G. Talle discussed the overview of the training.

MNAO Jesus “Jake” D. Dumangon of Kadingilan Bukidnon, CNAO Hazel P. Dondonayos of Valencia City, CNPC Sherill Faith P. Española of Cagayan de Oro and Ms. Princess Christine D. Tababa of NDAP Bukidnon Chapter served as training facilitators.

For five (5) days, the participants undertook the eight (8) modules of NPM with additional topics discussed on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 and the updated monitoring and evaluation protocol, MELLPI Pro. Updates were supplemented in the modules following the Capacity Building on Integrating Nutrition in Local Development Plans held last 31 July – 2 August. Likewise, the facilitators provided substantial inputs and real examples to visualize the sessions and also to give inspiration especially to those who are new to the nutrition program.

The training involved lecture/discussions, workshops and group activities such as group discussions, role playing and games.

Hall of Fame was utilized by the facilitators and secretariat to recognize active participants, output presenters, winning groups and pre/post-test topnotchers. Participants with the most accumulated stars at the end of the training were rewarded with IEC materials such as Nutrition Month tumbler, PPAN shirts and Pinggang Pinoy Placemats.

The major outputs of the participants during the training were draft Local Nutrition Action Plans for 2020-2023 and re-entry plans for their respective LGUs.
