27 September 2019, Cagayan de Oro City - National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X holds Joint Regional Nutrition Committee/Regional Nutrition Cluster 2nd Semester Meeting on 27 September 2019 held at The VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. The meeting was attended by 20 RNC Members from various line agencies presided by RNC Chair and OIC-Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an, CESO II of DOH CHD – Northern Mindanao.

One of the meeting’s highlights is the deliberation of results and ranking of 2019 Regional Monitoring and Evaluation of the Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI). This evaluation is conducted annually not only to measure the performance of LGUs in terms of efficiency and effectiveness in implementing nutrition programs but also to advocate for the continued support in the nutrition programs and strengthen the local nutrition committee.

The annual evaluation which commenced in August 2019 by the Regional Evaluation Team (RET) monitored and evaluate the following Provinces and Highly Urbanized City:  Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental and Iligan City.

NNC X being the secretariat presented the results to the body which was validated by the members of the Regional Evaluation Team.  RNC confirmed the result of 2019 MELLPI and the proposed awards to be conferred to LGUs through RNC Resolution No. 1, s. 2019.

Local Government Units with ratings not lower than three (3) will be given the Certificate of Quality Nutrition Program (QNP) in lieu of the Green Banner during Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony this coming November 2019. The committee also agreed to give awards to LGUs with decreasing trend of prevalence rate of stunting and to LGUs with 10% decrease of prevalence rate of stunting. (NO I Arlie Joy O. Damiles)
