MisOcc PDRRMO declares full support to NIE 2

23 October 2020, Cagayan de Oro City – Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Mariano P. Trompeta, Jr. of Misamis Occidental declared his full support to the nutrition in emergencies program for the province during the Closing Program of the 12-day eLearning Course on Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) – Information Management (IM), held 21 October 2020 via Zoom.

In his special message, he admits at first that he was hesitant to join the course since he cannot see the connection of his line of work and nutrition. As the training went on, PDRRMO Trompeta gained profound appreciation and understanding on the importance of NiE and IM.

He quoted that “Lahat ng natutunan ko magagamit ko talaga, lalo na pagdating ng panahon na mag-a-update kami ng DRRM-H-NiE Plan.” (Everything I learned in this training will be useful when the time comes when we have to update our DRRM-H-NiE Plan.)

(I can now say to our Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) 'Ma'am Tijing, where you are happy, I will support you.' Whatever we can still adjust or amend to update the DRRM-H-NiE Plan I will support you, because Nutrition in Emergencies is very important, especially now that we have a pandemic.”)

In 2020 Provincial Nutrition Action Plan of Misamis Occidental, PDRRM funds the stock piling for micronutrient supplements, procurement of breastfeeding tents, hanging type weighing scales and beam balance. Likewise, the conduct of NiE-IM trainings and planning workshops/meetings for crafting and re-evaluation of the DRRM-H-NiE Plan.

PDRRMO Trompeta’s support to the NiE program inspires not only the Province of Misamis Occidental but all the participants who joined and graduated the course. (NO I Arlie Joy O. Damiles)
