30 March 2021, Cagayan de Oro City — The eight (8) identified recipient Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bukidnon are now in action for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) for pregnant women. The program commenced last 8 March 2021, covering 3,382 pregnant women beneficiaries who will be given food commodities for 90 days.
The National Nutrition Council Region 10 (NNC X) through Provincial Nutrition Coordinator (PNC) Stephanie C. Barrio conducted TK DSP monitoring and technical assistance (TA) last 15-19 and 23 March 2021. This was participated by the Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), City and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators (C/MNPCs), and nutrition staff of the eight (8) recipient LGUs. The activity was done to check the program’s implementation and solicit feedbacks, gaps, and challenges from the focal persons in both the LGU and barangay levels and beneficiaries.
The TA focused on the accomplishment of the reporting forms, reporting system, and Nutri-text. NAOs were also instructed to remind their LGU level focal persons, and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and other barangay level focal persons to faithfully submit reports both via text and via physical forms for easy consolidation. Furthermore, NAOs were also directed to check the TK DSP reporting system to track the text report compliance of their LGUs.
Among the expected actions from the recipient LGUs include submission of the updated masterlist of pregnant women and children, and focal person directory, reorientation of BNSs and other focal persons on the new SMS reporting format, and provision of feedback from the barangays and beneficiaries on the TK DSP implementation. NNC X through PNC Barrio will also assist and coordinate with recipient LGUs on any updates and concerns and monitor the progress of the program implementation.
TK DSP is one of the programs under the Early Childhood Care and Development-First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1K). This is one of the strategic thrusts of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022. Through the constant support and cooperation of the recipient LGUs, focal persons, implementers, down to the beneficiaries, stunting prevalence along with other forms of malnutrition in Bukidnon will soon be alleviated.
