News Article Photo 3rd Gen Ass smgt19 May 2021, Cagayan de Oro City - Adapting to the new normal, the District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs) of Northern Mindanao convened virtually last 11 May 2021 via Zoom for the 3rd DCNPCs General Assembly. A total of 33 D/CNPCs attended and participated in the said activity.

The general assembly is being held annually to update the members on the association’s accomplishments, planned activities, and to discuss organizational issues and concerns.

National Nutrition Council (NNC) X Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez graced and opened the virtual activity. In her opening message, she challenged the D/CNPCs, “As nutrition workers, supervisors of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), catalysts of change, and through your leadership, I’d like to challenge everyone to continue doing your roles and responsibilities to address malnutrition, especially now with our present situation.”

“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to nutrition services is limited. Please push more and scale up our nutrition services to attain our Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) goals and to have positive nutrition outcomes. Strive for excellence, and remain steadfast during this trying time,” NPC Fernandez added.

The general assembly, as a venue for capacity development, the District City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines (DCNPCAP), Region X Inc. in partnership with NNC X organized the Leadership and Management Seminar.

Ms. April Nestlie A. Piasan, DTM, Event Management Consultant of One Consultancy Services shared her expertise in leadership and management. She discussed the concept and models of the management styles, leadership style, situational leadership and transformational leadership. Likewise, she shared tips on how to be an effective leader.

Thereafter, the association’s business meeting was presided by Ms. Marites A. Gomez, Misamis Oriental DNPC and President of the DCNPCAP, Region X Inc.

DNPC Gomez presented in her President’s Report the association’s 2020 accomplishments, regional logo and the proposed activities, which include the 2nd Nutrition Forum, program implementation review (PIR), benchmarking activity and nutrition education and gift-giving to pregnant women of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and/or cooking demo of complementary foods for indigenous people of Cagayan de Oro City.

Moreover, Ms. Sylvia B. Gonzalez, Cagayan de Oro CNPC and Treasurer of the regional chapter reported the association's financial status and reminded the members of the national and regional annual dues.

Another highlight of the activity was the election of the 2021-2024 DCNPCAP, Region X Inc. Officers. The following are the new officers:

Secretary: CNPC Beverly G. Mangubat of Valencia City

Assistant Treasurer: CNPC Marife C. Mag-usara of Tangub City

Auditor: CNPC Julie Ann C. Brigoli of Valencia City

Public Information Officers: DNPCs Mitzi C. Espuerta of Bukidnon, Cherry Ann D. Arabes of Misamis Occidental and Louie Rose L. Nob of Misamis Oriental

NPC Fernandez congratulated the DCNPCs and the new officers, and hoping that the association have more significant activities not only for the group’s benefit but also for the vulnerable groups,and also to meet the objectives of the association (NO II Arlie Joy O. Damiles).
