7 June 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The last leg of technical assistance (TA) for national awards contenders happened on 3-4 June 2021, virtually, with Cagayan de Oro City. The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) facilitated the TA to further prepare the city for the NET validation visit on 15-16 June, this year.
Cagayan de Oro City vies for the 1st Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award, after having been recognized as CROWN Awardee in 2019.
The City Nutrition Office, headed by City Nutrition Action Officer Nenita F. Rabe accommodated the RNET during the two-day activity. The RNET was composed of Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez of CHED X, Ms. Eva T. Pactura of DA RFO 10, and NNC X’s Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez and Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G. Talle.
Like the previous technical assistance provided to the two other Region 10 LGUs vying for national awards, the RNET reviewed the 2019 documents of Cagayan de Oro City. Following the desk review, the RNET further extended assistance through presentation of initial observations and recommendations for the CNO’s consideration.
Despite the escalating cases of COVID-19 in the city, the City Nutrition Committee through the CNO continues to prepare for the upcoming national validation, while also keeping in check the delivery of nutrition services in the barangays. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)
