17- 18 June 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – National Nutrition Council Region 10 successfully conducted the Online Annual Investment Program (AIP) 2022 Workshop on 17-18 June 2021 for Bukidnon areas specifically for the municipalities of Dangcagan, Kalilangan, Kibawe, and San Fernando via Zoom application. Only four municipalities were targeted since the areas were not able to submit their workshop output as well as their approved plan last year.
The online workshop started with an opening message from Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys S. Fernandez, wherein she thanked all the participants for responding to the region’s call to attend despite the pandemic. She then emphasized the objective of the online workshop which is for the region to provide technical assistance and to guide local government units (LGUs) in identifying nutrition programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) and integrate it to the FY 2022 AIP. NPC Fernandez also reiterated that the workshop is part of the LGU mobilization strategy; to strengthen nutrition actions of the LGUs and to secure investments to nutrition and nutrition related PPAs in the AIP. She also lobbied to the LGU planning teams the allocation of funds for nutrition PPAs for 2022 and prioritization of the First 1000 days program.
Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G. Talle then gave the overview of the workshop, followed by Provincial Nutrition Coordinator Stephanie C. Barrio who facilitated the discussion on Building Pandemic Resilient LGUs through Local Investments in Nutrition. It was followed by NO II Arlie Joy Damiles’ presentation introducing to the participants to the Excel-based costing workbook and oriented them on how to navigate the said workbook.
During the workshop proper, a breakout room was assigned for each participating LGU with their assigned NNC X facilitators. The participants used the costing workbook to estimate the 2022 budgets for nutrition activities. The LGU planning teams also formulated their respective re-entry plans to ensure that their workshop outputs are followed through.
The LGUs are scheduled to present their outputs together with the AIP Workshop 2nd batch.
NNC 10 commits to all LGUs of Northern Mindanao the continuous provision of technical assistance; to ensure implementation and sustainability of nutrition PPAs and make sure that no LGU is left behind in our fight against malnutrition. Padayon Region 10 and together we will win this fight as One Region in Nutrition! (NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes)
