7 July 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – Improving the nutrition situation cannot be achieved by one agency alone, but, it needs a multisectoral approach requiring the collaborative and unified nutrition efforts of all agencies, stakeholders and partners. Last 8 June 2021, the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X approved two resolutions during its 1st Semester Meeting held via Zoom, namely:
- RNC X Resolution No. 1, s2021 entitled “Expanding the Membership of the Regional Nutrition Committee X to include the Adventist Medical Center College (AMCC) and Central Mindanao University (CMU)”
- RNC X Resolution No. 6, s2021 entitled “Approving the Inclusion of Baybay-Loguilo Rural Workers Association (BLRWA) to the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) X”
The inclusion of AMCC and CMU in RNC X aims to strengthen the policy-making function of the committee to address nutrition and nutrition-related problems in Northern Mindanao through local research background reinforcement. With this expansion, RNC X now has a total of 29 members.
Baybay-Loguilo Rural Workers Association is a local salt producer composed of salt makers from the barangays of Baybay and Loguilo in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental. The inclusion of BLRWA to RBATF X aims to strengthen the Salt Iodization Program in the region. The RBATF X is now composed of 27 members.
With the expansion of partners in the region, the RNC X and the National Nutrition Council X hopes to scale up nutrition actions as One Region in Nutrition. (NO II Arlie Joy O. Damiles)
