20 July 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – Select Lanao del Norte Areas with their local planning teams successfully completed the Online Workshop on Integrating Nutrition in the Annual Investment Program (AIP) 2022. The online AIP 2022 workshop for batch 2 commenced last 12-14 July 2021. This was facilitated by National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X and attended by the following LGUs: Kolambugan, Magsaysay, Matungao, Nunungan, Salvador, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Tagoloan, and Tubod.  

One of the objectives of the online AIP workshop is for the LGUs to scale-up nutrition actions with corresponding budgets in their 2022 AIP, based on the priorities of their updated Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), Local Development Investment Program (LDIP), and Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP) with focus on the first 1000 days; factoring the ongoing and post- pandemic situation.

During the workshop proper, each LGU planning team was assigned per Zoom breakout room and was assisted by the Regional Team of Planning Facilitators (RTPF) composed of NNC X staff and Nutritionist-Dietitians under the Department of Health’s Human Resource for Health Program. Onsite assistance was provided by the NDs. The participating LGUs formulated their costing workbooks for 2022 nutrition programs, projects and activities, as well as re-entry plans; to ensure that their workshop outputs are followed through.

The final day of the workshop was allotted for the presentation of the workshop outputs of the LGUs which includes their accomplished costing workbook and re-entry plan. After the presentations, the RTPF then gave their comments and suggestions for the enhancement of the completed 2022 AIP.

The LGUs are called to continue to sustain the gains to ensure that the efforts and investments poured into improving the nutrition situation is not lost down the line. With this, the NNC regional office will continue to provide technical assistance to secure nutrition in the LGU budgets, even amidst the pandemic. (NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes)
