28 August 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council X organized the Training on News Article Writing on 23 August 2021 intended for all of its staff. The virtual training was also opened to nutrition workers from interested provinces, cities and municipalities.

Mr. Edgardo “Gardee” U. Pacalioga, freelance writer and editor and a member of NNC X’s media network, facilitated the training.

During the training, Mr. Pacalioga emphasized on the elements of news writing, drafting the lead of the story, overall structure of a news article, reminders on clear and effective writing, among others.

While the training aims to improve article outputs of staff and nutrition workers, Mr. Pacalioga stated that producing well-written news stories take a lot of practice. The secret to writing good news articles is to write, he said.

A workshop was held to apply the learnings from the lecture, followed by critiquing of outputs by the facilitator.

Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez in her closing message thanked Mr. Pacalioga and the participants for taking part in the agency’s pursuit for improved promotion of good nutrition through writing substantive and well-written news contents for webpage and social media outlets.
