29 August 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – In a virtual deliberation meeting convened by the National Nutrition Council X, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) settled and identified this year’s outstanding local nutrition focal points.

This was held last 25 August 2021, attended by five (5) RNET members led by Dr. Arlita Amapola B. Minguez, RNET Chair and CHED 10 representative, and NNC X as Secretariat.

The deliberation focused on the individual scores based on the following metrics: desk review, and interview for all Nutrition Action Officers, Local Nutrition Program Coordinators and Barangay Nutrition Scholars. BNSs’ scores on written exams were also accounted.

The evaluation process is done to assess the performance of frontline nutrition staff in carrying out core functions.

This is the first year that NAOs and LNPCs were evaluated, a milestone in the region’s pursuit of assessing and improving capacities of focal points, who are the main nutrition movers at the ground level.

As part of immediate next steps, NNC X is currently preparing the documents for endorsement to the National Nutrition Evaluation Team. Depending on the NNET’s validation, Region 10’s contenders may vie for the national awards. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)
