Article Assocs 2nd Sem Meeting Plenary1 September 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X virtually convened the officers of the regional chapters of Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines, (NAOPA) Inc., District City Nutrition Program Coordinators Assocation of the Philippines (DCNPCAP), Inc. and National Barangay Nutrition Scholars Federation (NaBNS Fed.), Inc. for its second regular meeting for 2021. A total of 30 officers attended from all three associations. This was held last 26 August 2021.

The first part was dedicated for the plenary session. Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) Gladys Mae S. Fernandez presented the current efforts of NNC to enable nutrition devolution in light of Executive Order 138. Among her updates was NNC X’s communication letter to appeal to local government units (LGUs) the creation of nutrition offices and plantilla positions for nutrition workers.

Nutrition Officer (NO) III Sheena Marie G. Talle disclosed the winners of the search for Northern Mindanao’s outstanding local nutrition focal points, specifically for the Provincial NAO, City/Municipal NAO, DCNPC and BNS categories.

Reminders on regular nutrition reports submission were shared by NO II Arlie Joy O. Damiles as part of the region’s updating of databases.

Provincial Nutrition Focal Point Gwyn Y. Balaba and NO III Talle provided updates for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program for Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte areas, respectively. PNFP Balaba emphasized that the last feeding scheme which is hot meals, for Bukidnon pregnant women is going. On the other hand, NO III Talle underscored the ongoing compliance to social preparation documents by Lanao del Norte areas.

NO I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi gave initial information on the upcoming virtual regional conference for BNSs. The virtual activity, which will be a first for NorMin, aims to provide nutrition program updates to BNSs.

Lastly, Ms. Nenita M. Tan, Chief Operations Officer of Bestfriend Goodies shared their list of ready-to-eat food products assisted by the Department of Science and Technology. Such food products can be used by LGUs in the conduct of dietary supplementation activities.

After concluding the plenary session, the officers were assigned in breakout rooms to proceed with their respective business meetings. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)
